I recently took a trip to Cornwall where the skies were perfectly clear so It was a chance to do some more astrophotography.

Top to bottom:

Sagitarius star cloud seen from Church Cove. The red supergian Antares can be seen lower right.

The Pleiades or Seven Sisters (M45) open star cluster and reflection nebula. Blue light from the stars is reflected by dusts clouds behind them.

The Andromeda Galaxy (M31) is the furthest object you can see with the naked eye and contains over a trillion stars.

Stoked to finally see Mo’Wax 21: Urban Archaeology. Such a rad book and amazing to have worked alongside James Lavelle and Ben Drury on such an epic project.

So many skate videos featured songs from Mo’Wax artists which inspired me to keep skating. Especially Organ Donor by Dj Shadow which was in Andrew Reynolds’s section in The End.

Make sure you go check out the book and more at James Lavelle’s Meltdown Festival currently going on at the Southbank Centre.

The waxing crescent and gibbous build up to tonight’s full moon. Three or four parts of the cycle have been missed out due to weather/that stupid mist we’ve had over the past few days.
Hopefully the weather will hold for me to be able to capture the waining phases …

Did a bit of afocal astrophotography last night for a quick snap of the supermoon.

Afocal astrophotography involves, quite simply, taking a picture using a camera or phone camera by holding it up to the eyepiece of a telescope. In this case I held my iPhone up to my Sky-Watcher Equinox 80 with a Vixen 20mm eyepiece.

This is Geoff White.
He’s 93 and flew photo recognisance Spitfires during the second world war.
He once borrowed a spitfire for a quick trip out. This spitfire wasn’t fitted with the new carburettor needed in order to fly upside down like his regular spitfire had.
As he inverted on the borrowed spitfire the engine cut out. Geoff had to glide the plane to a crash landing on a vineyard.
The owner of the vineyard let Geoff recover from his ordeal with bottle of wine while waiting to be picked up by the local ambulance.
What a true gent.

Great sunspot activity yesterday. Sunspots are areas of intense magnetic fields that are tearing open holes on the solar surface (called the photosphere). Even the smallest spot is larger than earth.

London Panoramic - One of the best views of London as seen from Greenwich. From left to right: Royal Observatory, Flamstead House, that building in Vauxhall with the crane that a helicopter flew in to, that building in Elephant and Castle with the big fans at the top, National Maritime Museum (foreground), London Eye, The Shard, Cutty Sark (masts), the Thames, BT Tower, St Pauls (dome and spire), that building that burns Jaguars and other stuff using the Sun, Royal Naval College, Liverpool Street and the Gherkin, Canary Wharf.
